In October 2022 Race4Life Founder Viv James and Dr. Alison Booth presented at the AIIHPC 23rd International Congress on Palliative Care in Montreal. This conference focused on embracing positive living and building capacity for Palliative and End-of-Life research.
The conference organisers extended an invitation to Viv James to present the findings of a world first study commissioned by Race4Life on the impact of the Trust’s wish service.
Dr. Alison Booth lead the way studying data over the previous few years. Dr. Alison worked conscientiously, free of charge, spending several hundred hours on investigating the impact of the Wish Service on patients, their families and communities throughout New Zealand. The impact of Covid was huge, so this was accordingly captured in the research. Dr Alison presented our findings at the conference with Viv James completing the presentation with a wish story that reached the hearts of all those present.
A great deal of hard work went into the data collection. For those relentless hours of work we thank Rhiannon Waller and Kath James for their enthusiasm and hard work.
Viv and Alison are seen here celebrating the success of the presentation with fellow presenter Lorraine Mercer, PhD, Project Coordinator of the Healthy End of Life Project (HELP) Ottawa.
