Tafara Chaparanganda

Race4Life / Tafara Chaparanganda

Tafara Chaparanganda is a brave 46 year old with bowel cancer. With thoughts of his gorgeous wife Trish in mind, Tafara wished to celebrate their first child, a daughter due in December, with close family and friends. A photographer, also invited to capture this very special baby shower.

Tōtara Hospice kindly offered the use of their dining room and facilities to host the shower. With plenty of inviting space and a roaring fire to take the chill off a wintery day, Tafara and Trish were able to welcome twenty of their nearest and dearest to this peach and white themed occasion! Within a single hour the room was transformed into the perfect venue to celebrate baby and family. Balloons were blown up (some a little too far!!), decorations put together, food on platters, the cake and cupcakes decorated, and a corner set aside for the coffee barista! The pace was frantic but the awesome team of ladies that made this happen made it look like effortless fun!!! A shout out also needs to go to the wonderful Hannah Webb Photography, the incredibly talented photographer who donated her afternoon to capture the day. So creative was the lovely Hannah, that her skills were quickly employed to make the paper flower decorations that came in a pack complete with some very complicated instructions!

Once the decorating dust had settled, the serene gardens and transformed sitting areas at Totara provided the perfect backdrop for Hannah to capture both the formal and candid moments shared between the proud Mum and Dad and their guests.

Hannah worked so beautifully with the photogenic group, which can be seen from the photos, has perfectly captured the love and magic of the day in her images. With the help of fellow photographer Natalia Bowers Little Lovely – Auckland Newborn, Maternity & Family Photography, who edited Hannah’s work, Tafara and Trish now have nearly 400 photos to treasure. Hannah and Natalia, we cannot thank you enough for these photos that will help the family look back and never forget this day in the years to come. We would also like to mention Sarah Weber Photography, another incredibly talented photographer we work with, who helped us find Natalia and Hannah at very short notice.

The wholehearted support of Foodstuffs North Island ensured all in attendance enjoyed a delicious meal of tasty and beautifully presented platters, barista coffees and cold drinks. But Foodstuffs North Island’s generosity did not stop there!! With the help of the fabulously stocked New World baby aisle, Race4Life and Foodstuffs North Island also gifted Baby Chaparanganda some baby necessities, a baby play mat and a fluffy cuddle bunny.

This wish means so much to those who attended, giving them the opportunity to express their heartfelt joy in Trish’s pregnancy. Race4Life therefore cannot thank everyone enough for their part in helping Tafara and Trish celebrate their precious unborn baby girl.
