Margaret Donnelly is a delightful 75 year old lady who has advanced breast cancer. Forever positive, Margaret makes a conscious effort to make the most of everyday she has left.
Margaret’s final wish was to visit Wellington with her dear friend Kerry and create some cherished memories.
Margaret and Kerry ventured to our Capital last week to enjoy the very best of “absolutely positively” Wellington. In the three days they were in The Windy City, Margaret and Kerry explored this most southwestern region of the North Island, their feet barely touched the ground.
The Movenpick Hotel provided the pair with upgraded accommodation and stunning views of the harbour. Plus, they were treated with an opportunity to travel in style. A Black Jaguar, owned by the hotel, was the ladies form of transportation out to dinner on two occasions!
The Gallipoli Tour at Te Papa was high on Margaret’s priority list and it more than lived up to expectations!
The pair also got to experience wonderful dining at some of Wellingtons finest restaurants.
The icing on the cake came with a special tour of Martinborough and its surrounding area, generously donated by John Barry from Capital Personalised Tours. Kelvin their allocated driver for the day shared his knowledge of the district. Poppies Martinborough, was the location for a stunning vineyard visit. The pair were treated to a divine lunch and a selection of some of Poppy’s amazing hand-crafted wines. From there a visit to Greytown provided some delightful surprises.
A quick visit to the National War Memorial on the way back to Wellington, gave Kelvin another chance to share his extensive knowledge of the area.
The final day in Wellington allowed the two friends an opportunity to walk around the beautiful city area, the weather being most obliging throughout their stay.
Upon their return to Auckland, our loyal volunteer, Mike Masfen, collected the tired but happy pair and drove them home.
A huge thank you to all the following service providers who helped to make Margaret’s wish simply magical!
