Mack Hiku is a 74 year old gentleman from Gisborne and is currently a patient at Hospice Tairawhiti. Mack has a diagnosis of prostate cancer.
The most important thing to Mack is family. With this in mind, Mack approached Race4Life to grant his wish of special family time. A get together with his wife Grace, his children, grandchildren and brother-in-law to share beautiful kai together with plenty of delicious seafood!
Sharing a meal has a very special significance for Mack. It creates a precious opportunity to come together, connect with loved ones, share a sense of belonging and reminisce over special stories and memories.
This beautiful wish took place at Tairawhiti Hospice in Gisborne with the amazing help of Rochelle Walker from Hospice, who sourced all of the seafood and food donated by the wonderful Foodstuffs North Island. And thanks to the amazing Jane Kibble, who was at the helm to lead the volunteer team on the day, everything went perfectly!
It was so lovely to see everyone together, sharing stories and hearing children’s laughter. For Mack, the day was just “AWESOME”!!!
Race4Life is so grateful to all that stepped in to help make this a truly memorable day for this family. The day was everything Mack had hoped for and more.
Mack will hold this special day very close to his heart.
