In the words of daughter Mikeila.
“Our Dad, John Coopman, who is known to some as Papa-Coops, JC or Johnny, to others, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer that is growing in his liver, abdomen, stomach, lungs and lymph-nodes. Dad is now focused on spending the precious time he has left with his children, family & friends. He enjoys hanging out with his babies, fishing, cooking for his friends and much more. This humorous and much loved, 53 year old, is father to my 3 siblings and me.”
It has been delightful to work with the family and to give John the opportunity to fulfil his wish. Over the last week, John’s health has declined so a few decisions had to be made.
After much sharing, it became apparent that John’s biggest desire was to hire a suit and to celebrate his life and his family, knowing that he would not be around when they were to get married. Daughter, Mikeila, was instrumental in working with Race4Life to ensure that her Dad’s wish became a reality.
Last Friday, family and friends gathered to celebrate John. They came bearing gifts, with love in their hearts. The theme was ‘formal’, so all concerned came dressed to the nines to honour this much-loved man. John had a simply awesome time on his special day. He sadly declined over the weekend and peacefully passed away on Monday morning. Our thoughts are with all of John’s family.
A huge thank you to all those who helped to make this day possible:
