Gemma Ball

Gemma had always wanted to visit the South Island with her son and her twin sister, and this was her original wish. However, with flying made difficult by her illness, we worked to find another wish that would also be special.

Gemma’s new wish was to treat her son to an amazing dining experience at Sky City’s iconic Orbit 360 Auckland Sky Tower Restaurant, visit Butterfly Creek and have a game of mini-golf.

To kick this wonderful wish off, Gemma and Destry were picked up by an amazing Race4Life volunteer driver from The Mustang Club, Sonya Stopforth (AMOC Members) . The pair were chauffeured in style to Orbit 360 were they enjoyed a fine dining experience that was very kindly donated by Ruth and her team at The Grand by SkyCity City. After the meal, the lovely Sonya was there to deliver the pair safely home.

Next stop Treasure Island Adventure Golf, who kindly donated tickets for the Mother-Son duo to battle it out on their 18 hole course. The fun included navigating waterfalls and shark, crocodile and eel infested waters!!! Gemma and Destry went all out, and enjoyed all this wonderful fun park had to offer.

What we especially love about this wish is it isn’t over yet, and it will keep creating opportunities for beautiful memories to be made! Later in March thanks to Sonya, Gemma and Destry will have the chance to hit the road again. This time they will enjoy another V8 experience, and drive out to Auckland’s Maraetai for an ice -cream . The car, a stunning red corvette! We wonder if a certain Prince song will be playing on the car stereo!

Sonya and husband Mike really must be acknowledged for going the extra mile for Gemma’s wish. In addition to generously giving their time and the car rides, we are so grateful to this very special couple who also donated the Butterfly Creek tickets.
