64 year old Carol Redman arrived at Waitakere hospital in late July after experiencing pain and vomiting. She was transferred to North Shore Hospital two days later and within a week of going into the hospital Carol had had an operation were a biopsy was taken. The following week the doctors confirmed Carol had an aggressive rare cancer, Cholangiocarcinoma which had metastasized. This once healthy beautiful woman was only given months to live.
With this news, Carol approached Race4life Trust with a wish to renew her vows with her darling husband Greg. Sadly Carol’s intention to celebrate with family and friends did not eventuate because of her decline. A celebration arranged for Saturday 5th October was brought forward to Friday evening.
Surrounded by close family, Greg and Carol exchanged their vows.
Having to bring the event forward was not a problem for all those who had already pledged their help for this special occasion. A huge thank you to Louise Pilkington who with an hour’s notice came in to do Carol’s hair. Lori McPherson from Astral Bridal travelled from Albany to Mercy Hospice with a variety of dresses for Carol to choose from. She also provided two members of her staff who pampered Carol with Nail therapy and a make over. A beautiful cake was supplied by Eve’s pantry and rings provided by MIchael Hill. Mercy Hospice kindly gifted a beautiful bouquet and bubbles!
The very talented Photographer Nicole Paton caught all the beautiful moments.
Carol sadly passed away on Monday afternoon, at Mercy Hospice surrounded by her loving family. The family wanted to share these precious memories in honour of Carol.
